Hey, I'm Krystal!

  • Who I Am

I was born in Trinidad and Tobago and raised in the vibrant streets of New York City—two places that taught me the importance of community, resilience, and good food. I currently live in Frisco, Texas with my husband, a retired military officer, and our two children. Outside of the therapy room, I love traveling, discovering great food spots, and catching a game whenever I can.

  • What I Do

I support individuals, couples, and families navigating identity, cultural expectations, relationship challenges, and major life transitions—often within systems that don’t fully see or support them. Drawing on my background in special education, case coordination, HIV education, and academic advising, I help clients strengthen communication, navigate cultural and generational dynamics, and build the confidence to advocate for themselves and create meaningful change in their lives. I also have a special passion for supporting teens, young adults, military families, Caribbean families, and Black and Brown clients.

  • Why I Do It

When I searched for a therapist for myself years ago, I was struck by how few Black therapists were available. That experience made me reflect on how many others were facing the same barrier. I became a therapist because our communities deserve accessible, culturally informed mental health care, and being able to offer what I once needed feels like coming full circle.

MY APPROACH

Selecting the right therapist is important and we know it. Here's a bit about my vibe.

Authentic

I believe healing happens most effectively in honest, real relationships, so I show up as my full self and invite you to do the same. I value direct, transparent conversations that honor your lived experience without judgment. Together, we create a space where you can be honest about where you are and what you need, even when the truth feels uncomfortable.

Affirming

You deserve to feel respected and valued exactly as you are, so I intentionally create a space where your identity is honored and affirmed. I work from an affirming lens that supports all gender identities, sexual orientations, and cultural backgrounds. In therapy, we focus on your strengths while gently addressing challenges in ways that reinforce your sense of worth and belonging.

Culturally-Grounded

Culture, family, and community shape how we experience the world, so I approach therapy with an understanding that healing does not happen in a vacuum. I consider cultural, generational, and systemic factors as essential parts of your story rather than obstacles to overcome. This perspective allows us to explore challenges in a way that honors where you come from while supporting where you want to go.

AREAS OF FOCUS

I am qualified to counsel on a variety of challenges. Below are just a few areas I help clients with most.

Relationship Concerns

You want to be together but life with another person isn't always easy. Improving communication and connection can help.

ADHD

Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder impacts children, teens, and adults from various backgrounds. There's nothing wrong with you; your brain just works differently. Let's develop strategies for navigating a world that can be overstimulating.

Military Families

Military families often navigate unique stressors: frequent relocations, deployments, reintegration challenges, and the emotional weight of service. Therapy offers a supportive space to process these experiences, and build resilience so your family doesn’t have to carry it alone.

Life Transitions

Things change. We are always moving from where we've been to where we are going. Those shifts often present unique challenges your therapist can help you navigate.
